Courts Closing and Travel
Well good news on the travel part. Courts close for 6 weeks in mid August (i'm assuming that its not the same time each year because it coincides with the Ethiopian new year which changes every year on our calendar, but not on theirs) As long as we get and accept a referral by late June we will travel before the courts close.
I don’t understand how all year long its 3to 4 months to travel then when it gets close to courts closing they can make it happen in 2 months or less. Its this way with all agencies. The good part is this works to our advantage if we get a referral in mid May… Mid Aug is only 3 months away!! Also I am sure we will travel before that cause they are trying to rush things through.
I can’t believe we might have our baby before mid August! That’s no time at all!

I am sure that you guys are getting so excited because it is now getting really close.
Doesn't the court closing issue add a whole new element of "fun" to the already excruciating wait? Just remember that you only have to get through courts by mid August. Many people just squeak through courts but don't travel till September.
We are crossing our fingers that we'll fit into that category...it would be awful to get a referral early but not make it through courts and not be able to travel till November!
So so close, you guys!!
I have no idea if this differs by agency, but with ours, they stop handing out referrals mid-late June, but families still travel during court closure. Sounds like you don't even have to worry about it though!! :)
How exciting! I don't really understand how it all works, but it sounds like your journey is almost over.
Court closure pretty much sucks! Crossing my fingers that your referral comes plenty early enough to keep that from being a concern. 8^)
It really is getting close. I am so excited for you both.
I was worried when I saw your countdown and it said NINE MONTHS waiting!
Then I realized you are counting down from the time you started the process, rather than the from the time your dossier reached the orphanage.
Phew.
Our agency estimated 4-6 months waiting time from the time the dossier gets to the orphanage board.
